Million-dollar homes are commonplace in 126 communities across the nation, including five Washington communities, according to a posting today by Puget Sound Busines Journal. Woodway makes this list, where the median home value exceeds $1,000,000.
Located just a few miles from Windermere Shoreline, Woodway is a community made unique by its deed restrictions of two acre minimum parcels with large setbacks. Nearing its 100th anniversary as a community, Woodway was founded in 1912 by David Whitcomb, Sr. who purchased the original 320 acres with the intent of maintaining country living. It was not until the early 1950′s, when a nearby development threatened to incorporate Woodway’s lands, that Woodway established itself as a fourth class city to gain protection and independence.
